The Pacific Community is an international development organization established in 1947, originally known as the South Pacific Commission. Its mission is to support sustainable development through science and knowledge, addressing key areas such as fisheries science, public health surveillance, geoscience, and conservation of plant genetic resources for food security.

The Pacific Community contributes to ADB’s development initiatives through cofinancing.
Sovereign Cofinancing. In 2024, the Pacific Community committed $8.2 million to finance investments in renewable energy generation and related facilities in the smaller islands of the Federated States of Micronesia. These investements will help improve access to electricity and drinking water, enhancing the climate resilience of livelihoods by bolstering energy security, reducing reliance on fossil fuels for power generation, improving the use of renewable energy, and rehabilitating dilapidated renewable energy infrastructure.
